Faunia is a large thematic and natural space that houses more than 1200 animals living in 4 ecosystems and 15 thematic areas adapted to each species, with its own habitat. All this over 16 hectares with a topography enhanced with lakes, ponds, in a space located in Madrid capital.
In Faunia are represented 4 of the most extraordinary ecosystems in the world:
In addition, in the thematic areas of Faunia you will enter a noctuary only illuminated by the light of the full moon where you will see fascinating animals such as the ocelot, the two-toed sloth or the aardvark and cross a karst grotto in Mysteries Underground, to meet animals that live in the depths as the mole rat or the chlamydosaurus.
You can also walk through an Australian grassland to meet Bennet's wallaby, visit a mangrove swamp with impressive Nile crocodiles or discover lots of venomous animals such as snakes, spiders, jellyfish, etc. From the very beginning of the visit, nature, learning and fun are guaranteed for the whole family!
Faunia also offers educational activities on marine mammals and birds of prey, didactic talks on some of the most representative species and the possibility of getting up close to sea bears, manatees, penguins, pelicans and crocodiles in their interactions with animals to make the visit an authentic nature experience.
Faunia carries out important work in the field of awareness and conservation of endangered species. In collaboration with the Parques Reunidos Foundation and within the framework of EAZA (European Association of Zoos and Aquariums), it participates in more than 31 EEPs (European Endangered Species Programs) as a direct contribution to the conservation of endangered species through in situ and ex situ projects and educational activities aimed at raising awareness, care for the environment and respect for the animal kingdom.
