Approximate itinerary
We’ll visit the “La huerta de los frailes” neighborhood, strolling through traditional streets and spots that have won awards in courtyard competitions. Our first stop will be at the Old Convent of La Victoria, where we’ll admire the building that now houses the Parish Church of Santa Catalina.
Next, we’ll head to the Mesón del Duque, where you’ll hear stories and anecdotes about the “rogues of the almadrabas.” Then we’ll proceed to the Arco de la Villa and Plaza de España, where we’ll cross the walled enclosure, hear tales of illustrious figures, and see the sculpture of José Saramago.
Our next stop will be on the Calles de los Poetas, where we’ll take a literary tour in honor of José Velarde and the master of carnival, Paco Alba. We’ll also visit the Plaza de Santa Catalina and La Chanca, the old 16th-century tuna factory (the only one in Spain), and its Exhibition Hall of the Sea and the Almadraba.
And finally, the Tower of Guzmán, where you’ll learn about the history of the town’s founder and the coastal defense system, concluding the tour with panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean.
